Solutioneering provides fractional COO and executive leadership to science-driven and technically complex ventures. We work with biotech, biomedical, medical device, and research-founded companies navigating early growth, fundraising, regulatory milestones, and operational scale.
Our experience spans venture development, operational build-out, commercialization strategy, research translation, and federal grant and contract management. We operate inside regulated, research-intensive environments where technical nuance, capital constraints, and execution risk intersect.
Solutioneering draws on experience leading venture studios, building portfolio company infrastructure, managing multimillion-dollar innovation portfolios, and working alongside global institutions including WHO, UNICEF, BARDA, and DARPA. We understand how to build companies inside technically demanding, capital-intensive, and highly regulated environments, and how to design the systems that allow breakthrough technologies to scale.
Megan Bettilyon, Founder and CEO
Megan leads every engagement personally. When a project calls for capability beyond the core team, we bring in specialist associates who have done that work before.
Her experience comes from inside research-intensive organizations. At Intellectual Ventures’ Global Good she was a portfolio director, running Gates-funded programs in vaccine delivery, pandemic preparedness, and clean energy. One of those programs put a vaccine transport device into the Ebola response; another, a pulmonary ultrasound effort, was co-funded with DARPA. She also co-founded Adastral, where she was CTO and built the operational foundations for the companies in its portfolio.
Since 2007 she has managed US federal grants and contracts, from applications and submissions through the reporting and compliance an award requires, for NIH, NSF, DARPA, BARDA, ARPA-H, and many private foundations. The organizations she has served include research institutes, universities, non-profits, and companies.
Solutioneering was founded in 2020 for organizations that need senior operational leadership now but cannot yet justify a full-time executive.
